Our test and tag service for NZ organisations with regional & national branch networks
We are THE test and tag NZ experts for companies with a national presence. Professional, cost-effective electrical testing for safety and OSH compliance.
Electrical testing must be part of an organisation’s safety activities. The Electricity Act 1992, Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010, Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Occupational Safety and Health regulations put the duty of care on the employer to ensure the safety of employees and all people using the premises.
Electricity Regulations refer to NZS 3760 in-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment as a means of ensuring safety with electrical equipment.
We are THE NZS 3760 test and tag NZ experts. We know you don’t want is to fail an OSH audit. Or have a staff member harmed. Or be prosecuted for an accident. Or have an insurance claim denied if there’s a fire caused by untagged & unsafe appliances.

Choose an established company you can trust
We’re not a bunch of fly-by-night cowboys. We’re test and tag NZ specialists who are absolutely passionate about safety.
We’ll ensure that…
- Your staff are safeguarded from appliances with hidden electrical faults that cannot be seen by eye.
- Your electrical appliances are fully compliant with NZS 3760, OSH and electrical regulations.
- You are protected against an OSH prosecution because you can demonstrate you have taken practicable steps to ensure your plant is maintained and safe to use. Appliances are deemed electrically safe if they have a current test tag issued in accordance with NZS 3760. See Regulation 26, Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010.
As well as being proficient, our technicians are trustworthy and ethical. Trust is vital when testing technicians are involved in sensitive areas of an organisation. All our technicians have all been chosen carefully and screened via Police checks.
Courtesy is also a priority. For example, we will never turn off a computer without first clearing it with staff. Our aim is to be as unobtrusive as possible.
You can count on us for reliability too. We’ll keep you compliant in the future by reminding you when it’s due, so you don’t even have to think about it. You’ll get the same consistent level of service going forward so all your compliance concerns are sorted.
The benefit of specialist technicians
We are specialist technicians, not generalists. Sharp skills need to be honed through repetition. Test and tag work is our total focus and that makes us very fast and efficient. Which means great value for you (and less disruption).
Why not just use your electrician? It could well cost you more. Most electricians have broad knowledge and work on an hourly rate. They’ll take take longer if they don’t have our high-speed testing equipment, our compliance experience and speed, or our super-efficient systems. And time is money. Which leads to the next point…
Real value for money
Compliance is just one of the many things you must budget for so wouldn’t you like to be compliant for less? With our highly-honed skills, specialist equipment and efficient systems, we can get the job done for a price that’ll make you smile. Click here to request a quote.

We understand you can’t afford huge amounts of downtime so you don’t want us invading the place and disrupting productivity. We work fast and we’re very respectful. We can also liaise with you about what works best in order to minimise disruption. We’ll even accommodate you by working outside of normal hours if need be.

How long will it take to test and tag everything?
It depends on the number of appliances to test and their accessibility. We can test and tag in the region of 15-30 per hour.
How much will it cost to test and tag everything?
It depends on the number of items to test at our quoted rate.
What do we have to do to prepare for the job?
Please let your staff know that we will be testing all appliances and will probably need them to save their work and turn off their computer for about 5 minutes. We’ll take care of everything else.
How often do we have to test and tag our electrical appliances?
It depends on the environment the appliance is in. Here is an indication of the maximum interval between tests…
- Any new or untagged appliance: Before use in any work place.
- Hire equipment: 3 monthly.
- Factories, work areas and cleaning equipment: 6 monthly.
- All other areas not mentioned: 1 yearly.
- Some office and protected appliances: 5 yearly otherwise 1 yearly.
Do we have to turn all the equipment off for you to test and tag?
We’d appreciate it if you could. We can do basic safety tests with appliances on if required, but it’s not recommended.
Do we really need to do it?
Yes, as stipulated by electrical and OSH regulations. You’re taking big risks if you don’t. See our Legislation page for details.
Will you remind us when our next test is due?
Yes, we will contact you when your appliances are due for re-testing.
What about asset registers?
We are skilled at creating asset registers. Let us know if you want one and we’ll include the price in your quote.
Is there any impact on our insurance policies?
Insurance policies generally require you to employ due care and diligence to prevent loss to your property. If an untagged/unsafe appliance causes a fire, your insurance claim could be declined on the grounds you did not take “reasonable care” to prevent loss to your property.
Comply Guy was totally professional, understood the requirements of OSH and completed their business with no disruption to our staff. I highly recommend them to any business requiring official OSH certification for their appliance testing. – Ricky Leitch, Family Works
